United Nations CSW69 Youth Journalist
2025 69th Commission on the Status of Women
In March 2025, I participated in the 69th Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, USA. As a youth journalist with international NGOs and UN Partner Organizations Global Youth Philanthropy and Peaceland Foundation’s Youth Voice Media Centre program, I was able to attend main conference meetings within the UN Headquarters and interview a wide range of conference attendees from UN officials to NGO representatives.
At Global Youth Philanthropy and Peaceland Foundation’s side event “Empowering Women in a Sustainable Future” on March 18th, 2025, I received an award for my reporting on the conference alongside other youth journalist representatives from the United States and Canada.
During my time in New York, I was able to interview Dr. Svetozar Dimitrov, the First Secretary of the Permanent Mission of Bulgaria to the UN. He was also participating in the CSW69 conference and very kindly shared with me his experiences, including his collaboration with UNICEF in creating the International Day of Play.
On May 30th, 2025, also as part of the Youth Voice Media Centre program, I conducted an interview with Ms. Lisa Doughten, the Director of Financing and Partnerships at UN OCHA, which coordinates the UN’s humanitarian affairs. It was an honor to be able to learn about how the UN helps countries in need from a leading woman who has worked on humanitarian issues for her whole career.
